OTRC at Star Head - A Fantastic Day of Racing

The rising waters held off long enough to get the racing completed in Bedford yesterday.

A huge well done to all OTRC crews who raced at Star Head. From juniors through to masters, every boat put in a committed performance and showed the progress we’ve been making across the club this season.

We had strong results right across the board - fast times, tight finishes, and plenty of signs that the training, technical work and winter miles are paying off. For several crews it was their quickest head-race time to date, and for others it was their first chance to benchmark themselves over the full 1,850m course. The juniors also raced with great confidence and showed real promise for the season ahead.

A massive thank you to all the coaches, volunteers and supporters who gave up their time yesterday. These events don’t run without people stepping in to help - from trailering and boating to bank support and warm-ups, it makes a huge difference. And thank you to everyone who stayed behind to de-rig and pack down afterwards; it’s always appreciated and keeps the day running smoothly.

Overall, it was a brilliant day of racing for the club. Lots to be proud of, plenty to build on, and a strong start to the winter season.
