Club Committee

The people making the big decisions and keeping everything on track

Chairman
Simon Murray

The Chairman (or Chair) presides at all General meetings of the Club and at all meetings of the Committee, and is responsible for guiding the activities of the club in accordance with its general policy as expressed by the majority of its members. The Chairman represents or arranges for the representation of the Club at British Rowing regional level and at meetings of other organisations. The Chairman is ex officio a member of any other committee of the Club.

The Vice Chairman supports the Chairman in leading the club and stands in for the Chairman when they are unavailable. They assist with sponsorship, fundraising, and club development initiatives.

The Secretary is responsible for the organisation of meetings of the Committee and of the Club, and the recording of minutes relating to such meetings and all correspondence relating to the general business of the Club.

Treasurer
Peter Cook

The Treasurer is responsible for the collection and disbursement of all monies belonging to the Club and keeps proper accounting records of all such transactions. They present to the members at the AGM a balance sheet and income and expenditure account showing the Club's financial position and the results of its transactions for the year. The transactions of the Club are conducted through a bank account and require the signatures of any 2 of 3 members of the Committee who have been designated for the purpose.

Jason Burns

A role with overall responsibility for the Club's rowing operations. The Captain oversees training programmes, coaching standards, and squad development across all membership categories. Responsible for the Club's fleet of boats, equipment maintenance, and ensuring resources meet member needs. Leads recruitment efforts and supports the integration of new rowers into the Club. Reports directly to the Committee and presents at the AGM on all rowing matters. Represents the Club at competitions and external events.

Ensures compliance with British Rowing's RowSafe guidance, coordinates with Regional Safety Advisors, and organizes safety training for club members. Responsible for maintaining safety standards and risk assessments.

Welfare Officer

Emma Bradbury

Provides guidance on safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults, maintains DBS records, and manages any concerns according to British Rowing procedures. The primary point of contact for welfare matters.

Maintains the member database and coordinates with the Treasurer regarding membership payments. Handles new member enquiries and manages the membership renewal process.

Organises the club's social events calendar including annual dinners, fundraisers, and club gatherings. Encourages clubhouse use and builds community spirit among members.

Manages newsletters, social media, event publicity, and club marketing efforts. Promotes the club's activities and achievements to members and the wider community.

Hugh McCormack

Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of boats, oars, and other rowing equipment. Coordinates repairs, organises work parties, and ensures equipment is safe and in good working order.

Manages the club website and online presence, keeping content up to date and ensuring members have access to the latest information about sessions, events, and club news.

Entries Secretary
Gary Coxon

Manages competition entries and event registrations with British Rowing. Coordinates crew submissions for regattas, heads, and other racing events, ensuring entries are submitted correctly and on time.
