What is Row HQ?

Row HQ is the software that runs the day-to-day side of our club. Training sessions, boat bookings, crew line-ups, event entries, payments and club messaging all sit in one place.

Every OTRC member gets a login to our portal at app.oundletownrowing.co.uk. It works in any phone browser, so there is nothing to install. Sign up for a session on the bus, check which boats are free before you drive down, or look at your crew for Saturday from the sofa.

It is built specifically for rowing rather than adapted from generic club software. That matters, because rowing runs on crews, boats and seats - not on a simple diary. Row HQ was created by our own club captain, Jason Burns, and OTRC was the first club to use it.

What We Use It For

These are the parts of Row HQ our members and coaches use every week.

Training Sessions

The full week of water, erg and circuits sessions. One tap to say you are coming, and coaches see the numbers before they plan.

Boat Booking

Book a boat outside scheduled sessions. Clashes with sessions and other bookings are blocked automatically, so no more double bookings.

Crew Line-Ups

Coaches build crews seat by seat. Rowers get a notification with their boat, their seat and the time to be on the water.

Events and Regattas

Regatta and head race entries, crew selection, deadlines and attendance. Everyone can see who is racing and in which boat.

Payments

Card payments for event entries, courses and membership, handled securely through Stripe with a receipt straight to your inbox.

Club Messaging

Member Mail keeps club communication in the portal instead of scattered across WhatsApp threads and inboxes.

Push Notifications

Crew assignments, session changes and reminders arrive on your phone. No more missed messages buried in a group chat.

Membership and Safety

Membership renewals, emergency contacts and British Rowing details are kept current, which keeps the club properly insured.

Junior and Parent Accounts

Parents manage their children's sessions, crews and payments from their own login, and can switch between children.

Learn to Row

Course sign-ups, taster days and waiting lists run through the same system, so new rowers start in the portal on day one.

Training Data

Erg scores and Garmin sessions upload to your profile, giving you and your coach a clear picture of your training.

Committee Admin

Member records, boat maintenance logs, coaches' meetings and reporting - the unglamorous work that keeps a club running.

Why It Matters to Our Members

Before Row HQ, all of this lived in spreadsheets, group chats and a paper sign-out sheet in the boathouse. The difference for members is simple.

  • You always know what is on, who is coaching and whether a session is going ahead
  • You know your crew and your seat before you arrive at the boathouse
  • Boats are never double booked, so nobody turns up to find their quad on the water
  • Coaches spend their time coaching instead of chasing replies to a poll
  • Payments, membership and safety details are handled in one place, not five
  • Everything works on your phone, with nothing to download

Run a Rowing Club?

Row HQ is available to other clubs too. If you are wrestling with spreadsheets, unanswered polls and a paper sign-out sheet, it is worth a look. It is free for clubs with up to 20 active members.
