Strong Showing and Success at St Neots Regatta

Strong Showing and Success at St Neots Regatta

Oundle Town Rowing Club enjoyed a successful day at the St Neots Regatta on Sunday 27th July, with a number of crews competing in the 500m sprint format and several strong performances across the board.

🏆 Victory for the Men’s Masters 4x

The highlight of the day came from the Men’s Masters Quad, who secured a well-earned win in their category, beating crews from both Tees and Broxbourne by several lengths. The crew—Bob Carpenter, Gary Coxon, Brian Hardwick and Jon Heaney, recently supported and coached by Jason Burns—have shown real commitment in training over recent months, and it was great to see that hard work pay off on the water. Their result reflects not just the strength of the crew, but also the wider coaching support around them. A special thanks to all the coaches who’ve worked with the quad across past seasons as they now look ahead to the 2025/26 racing calendar.

🚣‍♀️ Strong Performance from Jess and Charlotte

Jess and Charlotte raced well in the Women’s Double Sculls, winning their first race confidently. In the second round, they were narrowly beaten after catching a crab near the finish line, losing by the slimmest of margins. It was a great effort and a strong show of potential from the pair.

💪 Mixed and Junior Crews in Action

We also had a scratch Men’s Masters 4x featuring Tomo, Peter, Andrew and Bish. Despite limited time in the boat together, they held off tough opposition from Broxbourne until the final 200 metres. A solid result for a newly formed crew.

Junior representation was strong too, with Tyresse, George and Declan competing in a double under the guidance of coach David Oldham. Their racing experience on the day adds valuable learning as they continue to build confidence and technique in competition settings.

Well done to all rowers, coaches, and supporters who made the day a success. The club continues to go from strength to strength, and it’s encouraging to see our crews performing with both spirit and sportsmanship. Onwards to the next race!
